Where there's a will there's a way
One of the questions that regularly gets a raised eyebrow and a “tell me more” response from our clients, is around their asset protection. In other words what steps have you taken to ensure that your assets are protected and will pass on to the right family members?
We all spend a lifetime building up our assets through hard work and, in most cases, would like to pass them on to our family safe in the knowledge that they will remain in their hands.
Unfortunately, most people do not realise that there are a number of issues that could either reduce the value of the assets they leave or take them away from the family altogether. Many of our clients immediately think of inheritance tax as being the biggest danger to threaten their family’s wealth.
Many of us believe that having an up to date Will in place solves the problem, but this only goes so far as there are other, less obvious threats that could have potentially devastating effects.
In order to advise our clients more effectively Coreco has recently launched “The Asset Protection Strategy” which is a carefully structured programme that can reduce the threat of a number of dangers, of which Inheritance Tax is just one.
The strategy addresses five main issues:
- Inheritance Tax
- Remarriage After Death – the problems that can threaten the family’s assets when a spouse or partner remarries
- Long Term Care Costs – those with assets may have to pay towards the cost of care
- Bloodline Issues – where assets left to the next generation are lost or seriously eroded as a result of beneficiaries divorce or bankruptcy
- Death in Service, life assurance and pension benefits – how they can be protected for the family
A number of our advisers have been specially trained to advise you on the best way to resolve these issues, so please feel free to contact us now to discuss on 020 7856 2454 and ask for Roy Hardy.
When giving advice on The Asset Protection Strategy, Coreco will act as a representative of Countrywide Legal Services Limited. The Financial Services Authority does not regulate Wills and Trusts.

2012: What does the future hold for the mortgage market?
In my mind 2012 was always meant to be the year when everything began to improve, after all we have the Olympics and the feel good factor from that together with a good Euro Championships would surely propel us on to bigger and better things?
