Crunch Time

Sitting in my local rugby club with the Old Paulines vets watching the current world champions South Africa take on the Lions on Saturday made me thankful for small mercies.

Even though I have recently become a father for the third time (no sleep), and working through one of the worst financial crises of our era (stress), I was strangely comforted that I was not on the field of play in Durban!

The atmosphere looked electric and the crowd was deafening when their local heroes took to the field. It has been 12 years since the Lions last won a test series, against the then world champions South Africa, and believe you me they hold a grudge!!!!!

I was honoured to have  played for the Lions in 2001 and fully understand the pressure that this current crop of talented players is under, even more so now after Saturdays result.

For those of you that watched the match, you don’t need a match report from me, and for those of you that didn’t WHAT WERE YOU DOING!!!!!!!!

I would however like to draw some analogies between the match and the current financial situation that is currently confronting us.

During periods of uncertainty it is best advised to listen to those who have well founded knowledge and experience. In this regard, we at Coreco act like the coaching staff of the Lions, making informed choices and decisions, (selecting a product), based on not only current form, but also an educated opinion of the best route forward.

Yes we occasionally get it wrong, (ala not hauling Vickery off after 30 minutes), but if this does occur, by drawing upon the vast skill sets within the organisation we can minimalise the negative impact and reposition, (substitute), the situation.

When situations look hopeless and lost, (think back to 26-7 with 25 minutes to go), this is the time when strong resolve and fortitude are sometimes not enough and the need for a helping hand and sound advice is essential.

At Coreco we pride ourselves on being able to make the right, and at times tough, decisions which may initially appear against public opinion, but which are based on years of tackling the market, defending our client’s needs and scoring victories where others would have succumbed.
