Each one of our directors offers something unique and different, we cannot thrive without the others and together, we believe we are the best in the business.

Our professional advisers and support staff represent the cream of the industry.

The Coreco logo has a link between the letters showing the close knit group of individuals who make up the core of the company.

So who are we?

Our Directors

Andrew Montlake - Communications Director
After graduating in 1992 with a BA (Hons) in Economics & Politics, and a brief career in Direct Marketing, Andrew started in the mortgage industry in February 1994, at John Charcol where he became part of the top performing team.

In June 2000, he joined Cobalt Capital and was responsible for successfully growing the Cobalt brand as Head of PR and Marketing.

Now Communications Director for The Coreco Group, he is regularly quoted in the National Press with appearances on National TV and Radio. More commonly known as "Monty" he is the author of a highly acclaimed Mortgage Blog and was voted “Mortgage Personality of the Year” in 2008.

Andrew continues to work at the coal face, writing mortgage business and looking after clients.

Francois Taljaard – Chief Financial Officer
Born and educated in South Africa, Francois came to the UK after completing his B.Comm (Econ) at Stellenbosch University.

Francois joined mortgage broker John Charcol in 1996 and, over the next 9 years he assisted with the opening of 13 offices for John Charcol – setting them up as a national presence. He also assisted with the set up of Charcolonline,  presiding over the one (and only) national TV campaign by a mortgage broker in the UK and finally left after setting up Charcol Direct in Brighton.

During this period he also completed his Management Diploma and MBA with the Open University.

In 2005 – along with 2 others – he left Charcol to set up their own management consultancy firm. It was through this that Francois came into contact with Cobalt Capital in late 2006, running a project with property website Primelocation. Before long he was recruited to work alongside Cobalt's management team full-time to help grow their exciting business as an associate partner .  His role was to facilitate the growth of the business via numerous JV’s and acquisitions.

Francois’ current role is as Chief Financial Officer. More than just counting the money, his role is working with the rest of the Directors to grow and create value in their very own business.

Matt Lowndes – Managing Director
After graduating from university with a BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering, Matt decided against a life in construction believing technology was the place to be. After joining Unisys in 1998, he soon decided that the dotcom arena offered exciting new opportunities and joined Sports.com in 2000.

In 2002 Matt’s journey into financial services began, joining Cobalt Capital as the IT guy. He then took on the role of office manager before moving up to General Manager, a position he retained until March 2009.

As MD of the Coreco Group, Matt’s role is to keep his fellow Directors heading in the same direction, driving forward our technology innovation and keeping ego's in check. Matt is also half way through studying for his MBA.

Rob Gill – Director Private Clients/Head of Sales
After graduating in Economics from Exeter University, Rob started his career in the City in 1996, working his way up via various back office roles to the Equity Trading desk at Nomura in 1999.

Experience trading equities in Europe, UK and Asia gave him a great insight into global markets and economics, which in turn helped him establish rapports and provide first class advice to High Net Worth clients on joining Cobalt Capital in 2006.

Rob’s economic knowledge also gave him the opportunity to assist Andrew “Monty” Montlake with Cobalt’s PR, and he made several appearances on BBC Television and radio as a result.

As well as continuing to assist on the PR side, Rob’s role at Coreco is to build our High Net Worth proposition by liaising with Private Banks, high end Estate Agents and solicitors. As a qualified IFA he will also be looking to establish a Wealth Management proposition for our clients.

Roy Hardy – Operations Director
After Graduating in 1997 with a degree in Business Studies,  Roy started his Financial Services career as a Financial Adviser with City Financial Partners Ltd. He joined John Charcol Ltd in 1998 as a trainee and soon qualified as an IFA.

Between 1998 and 2001 Roy worked as an IFA with a main focus on mortgage broking.  In 2001 he was asked to move into Sales Management and spent the next 3 years leading one of the top teams of brokers.

Throughout this time he continued with his studies and achieved the AFPC.

In 2005 after a brief spell with Thinc Destini Roy was headhunted by Cobalt Capital and was soon Sales Manager for the main Knightsbridge office.

Now as Operations Director for Coreco his main focus is ensuring the smooth implementation of our sales processes and that harmony is maintained between our advisors and sales support.
