Our Management Team
Matt Lowndes – Managing Director
After graduating from university with a BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering, Matt decided technology and subsequently the dotcom arena offered exciting new opportunities, joining Sports.com in 2000.
In 2002 Matt’s journey into financial services began, joining Cobalt Capital as Head of IT. Offering so much more than just technical expertise, he then took on the role of office manager before moving up to General Manager, a position he retained until March 2009.
As MD of the Coreco Group, Matt’s role is to keep his fellow Directors heading in the same direction, driving forward our technology innovation and keeping ego's in check. Matt is also half way through studying for his MBA.
Matt has also been to the Caribbean.
Francois Taljaard – Director (Finance & Specialist Lending)
Born and educated in South Africa, Francois joined mortgage broker John Charcol in 1996 where he assisted with the opening of 13 offices across the UK, the set up of Charcolonline and Charcol Direct in Brighton.
During this period he also completed his Management Diploma and MBA with the Open University.
After a brief stint in Consultancy, he joined Cobalt Capital in late 2006, running a project with property website Primelocation, before becoming a full-time member of the management team, facilitating the growth of the business via numerous JV’s and acquisitions.
Francois’ current role is as Chief Financial Officer. More than just counting the money, he works with the rest of the Directors to grow and create value in their very own business as well as working closely with Coreco Specialist Finance.
Andrew Montlake – Director (Brand, Marketing & Communications)
After graduating in 1992 with a BA (Hons) in Economics & Politics, and a brief career in Direct Marketing, Andrew started in the mortgage industry in February 1994, at John Charcol where he became part of the top performing team.
In June 2000, he joined Cobalt Capital and was responsible for successfully growing the Cobalt brand as Head of PR and Marketing.
Andrew’s role at Coreco is to maintain and promote the Coreco Brand, as well as dealing with all marketing and PR. He is regularly quoted in the National Press with appearances on National TV and Radio. More commonly known as "Monty" he is the author of a highly acclaimed Mortgage Blog, was voted “Mortgage Personality of the Year” in 2008 and won the award for "Best Press Spokesperson" 2011 at The British Mortgage Awards.
Andrew continues to work at the coal face, writing mortgage business, looking after clients and is responsible for all lender liaison.
Roy Hardy –Director (Operations, Compliance & HR)
After Graduating in 1997 with a degree in Business Studies, Roy started his Financial Services career as a Financial Adviser with City Financial Partners Ltd. He joined John Charcol Ltd in 1998 as an IFA with a main focus on mortgage broking. In 2001 he was asked to move into Sales Management and spent the next 3 years leading one of the top teams of brokers.
Throughout this time he continued with his studies and achieved the AFPC.
In 2005 after a brief spell with Thinc Destini Roy was headhunted by Cobalt Capital and was soon Sales Manager for the main Knightsbridge office.
Now as Operations Director for Coreco his main focus is ensuring the smooth implementation of our sales processes and that harmony is maintained between our advisors and sales support, as well as continuing to look after clients.
Rob Gill –Director (Wealth & Corporate Introducers)
After graduating in Economics from Exeter University, Rob started his career in the City in 1996, working his way up via various back office roles to the Equity Trading desk at Nomura in 1999.
Experience trading equities in Europe, UK and Asia gave him a great insight into global markets and economics, which in turn helped him establish rapports and provide first class advice to High Net Worth clients on joining Cobalt Capital in 2006, as well as assisting Andrew “Monty” Montlake with Cobalt’s PR, making several appearances on TV and radio as a result.
Rob’s role at Coreco is to help develop our exciting Wealth Management proposition and build our Corporate Introducer database by liaising with Private Banks and other corporate institutions, as well as continuing to write mortgage business. Rob was runner-up in the "Best Large Loan Broker" category at The British Mortgage Awards 2011.
Richard Campo - Head of Sales
Richard’s career started at Cheltenham & Gloucester in 1999, specialising in mortgages. From there he joined the Lambeth Building Society in 2001 as Assistant Manager, becoming a Manager a year later and remains the youngest manager in their history.
In 2003 Richard joined John Charcol as an Independent Mortgage Adviser, focusing on High Net Worth clients.
From 2004 to 2010 he moved to Alexander Hall, again as an Independent Mortgage Adviser and in 2007 created a role as ‘Technical Adviser’ working with the 100+ brokers that were at Alexander Hall at the time.
The main emphasis of the role was to stay in contact with lenders, negotiating exclusive products and services, adapting to changes within the mortgage industry and updating/training the brokers accordingly.
As Head of Sales at Coreco Richard will be drawing on these skills; managing large groups of people, adapting to and implementing change, in order to drive Coreco forward as London’s leading Independent Mortgage Brokers.
Julian Ingall – Director of Coreco Specialist Finance
Having always had an interest in property and initially part qualifying as an Architect, Julian decided to join the Financial Services industry in 1989, cutting his teeth at John Charcol in the early 1990’s. After opening their Guildford Office Julian left to spend time assisting High Net Worth individuals with tax efficient investment schemes.
In 2000 he jointly founded the boutique Mortgage Brokerage Cobalt Capital. As the managing partner of Cobalt Capital and at the centre of its growth, the company expanded to a peak of 90 staff and developed into one of the leading mortgage brokerages in London.
With more than a growing interest in the specialist / commercial sectors of the mortgage market and a determination to obtain finance on the seemingly impossible, Julian decided to follow his passion and invest into Coreco, becoming a Director of Coreco Specialist Finance in 2010.
His aim is to drive this business forward to become one of the strongest specialist finance teams in the industry, focussing on large residential loans for development / investment purposes and large property portfolios.
